Garage Conversion and Extension in Hampshire
The project is located in the village of Over Wallop in the heart of the Test Valley. The Victorian farm house had an external double garage with a room over. The existing kitchen was small and did not have views over the extensive garden. The challenge was to create a large kitchen family room that over looked the garden. The proposal looked at a crashed geometric insertion between the garage conversion and the main house which involved extensive remodelling.
The garage has been re clad to give it the appearance of a barn and forms part of the family area, changes of level allow views in to this space from the playroom which sits below a sleep over dormitory. The hall in the main house has been opened up to form a large family dining hall. The remodelling of the upstairs has created additional bathrooms and bedrooms.
The scheme was permitted planning permission after protracted negotiation’s with Test Valley Borough Council conservation officers.
