The Bapsy Hall, Winchester

The Bapsy Hall is an elegant Victorian public space at the heart of the Guildhall Winchester. The existing space was tired and had been detrimentally adapted over the years. During the exploratory works many original architectural features were re-discovered. These have been exposed to enhance the character of the space. Opening up the top arches of the windows and revealing the original balustrade has given an insight into the original design of the hall.  The lighting, heating and ventilation have been completely changed to enhance the character of the room. Dado fretwork has been specially designed to conceal ductwork while using references to the Gothic style. The seating has been re-upholstered to match the decoration to give this function room the splendor that it deserves.
