This scheme for a local Hampshire based developer sits above an embankment on the site of a terrace of thatched cottages which were destroyed by fire. The client wanted to replace the cottages with larger houses that still respected the scale and vernacular of the village.
The proposed buildings give as much internal area to each new house as possible while staying within the previous ridge height. The elevations use a variety of quality traditional materials and are reflective of the local style of the village. Through careful negotiations with the planners and local residence the proposal gained support overcoming initial challenges
