The Point, Eastleigh

This landmark project in Eastleigh consists of three main elements. The focal point of the project is a new build Dance Creation Centre, with a state of the art performance space, alongside accommodation for performers. This contemporary brick building is punctuated with large picture windows that connect the activities inside the studio, to the public park beyond. Internally, the building is light and modern; a bespoke oculus floods the dance studios with light from above and creates a double height space.

Further to the new build elements, the existing theatre has been renovated and the 1930s library has been remodelled to improve access. These elements of the project provide important ancillary, meeting and performance spaces. A new glazed atrium links the two existing structures. The project combines contemporary architecture with the historic existing buildings to provide practical spaces that are used by the general public and professional performers alike.
