Country House Extension, Winchester

Remodelling and substantial extension of a listed building to provide a 50% increase in living accommodation. The original building was formerly two cottages converted in the early 1900s.

The design respects the architectural style of the original building. The rear two storey extension rationalises the interior layout to provide large modern spaces that take advantage of the garden and pool areas. The kitchen is located in a vaulted double height space with main living area opening up through large sliding doors on to a large terrace allowing the spaces to be used together for entertaining.

The relocation of the staircase has improved the internal flows of the existing house. At first floor the bedrooms have been remodelled to introduce en-suites and master suite has been created. Externally the hard landscaping has been designed to allow the house to open on to a series of terraces.
